Alvin J. "Al" York, 89, of Palmyra, died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Tradition of Hershey.
He was born on Sunday, January 01, 1928 to the late Job H. York and Mary York nee Okayl in Trenton, NJ.  He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a veteran of the Navy and Army Air Corps in World War II and Korea. Al worked for the State of NJ for 47 years as an engineer, was a past president of Engineers Association of NJ, Gothic Fraternal Lodge in Bordertown, NJ, Board of Health Advisor for Somerset County, NJ and Fire Chief for Skillman, NJ.
Surviving are grandchildren Sarah Randall, John Randall; great grandchildren Natalie Randall, Jasen Randall; brothers Job H. York, Frederick J. York; sister Mildred Y. Schlosser. He was preceded in death by wife Matilda J. York nee Ruth; daughter Ann M. Manthei; sister Mary Sperry.
Graveside services will be on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
