Ammon S. Schafebook, 93, of Cornwall, died on Saturday, September 06, 2014 at his home.
He was born on Tuesday, May 10, 1921 to the late Charles Schafebook and Florence Schafebook nee Hoke in Quentin. He was a member of Cornwall United Methodist Church and a graduate of Cornwall High School. Ammon was a former member of Quentin Volunteer Fire Company and Scout Leader. He was a retired employee of the Cornwall Ore Mines, a Division of Bethlehem Steel Corp., and Cedar Haven, County of Lebanon. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army's 382nd Infantry Regiment assigned to the 96th Infantry Division. He fought in the Pacific battles of Leyte and Okinawa.
Surviving are sons Dennis E. Schafebook, Cornwall, Richard A. spouse of Barbara Schafebook, Baldwin, MD; grandchild Scott Schafebook, San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by wife of 63 years, Martha L. Schafebook nee Galebach who died on November 12, 2006; brothers Theodore and Charles Schafebook.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Cornwall United Methodist Church, Alden Street and Rt. 419, Cornwall.
Burial will be at Cornwall Cemetery, Cornwall, following the service.
