Arlene M. Gettler, 82, of Lebanon, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Spang Crest Manor.
She was born on Friday, March 11, 1932 to the late John Craun and Mabel Craun Carpenter nee Daub in Lebanon. Arlene was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and former member of Avon Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a graduate of the class of 1950 at South Lebanon High School. Arlene worked in her early years at the Crazy Cat Drive-In and the Avon Hotel. She also worked in the Dietary Department of the VA Medical Center, dispatcher for the South Lebanon Township Police Dept. while the office was located in the Chief of Police's house before the police department had it's own building. She also was a bus driver for the Cornwall-Lebanon School District and co-owner of Gettler's Emergency Services Equipment Company. Arlene enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.
Surviving are children Suzanne R. spouse of Jeffrey Sides, Lebanon, George J. Jr., spouse of Melanie Gettler, Lebanon, Kathleen spouse of Kenneth Ebersole, Lebanon, Karen spouse of Richard Jordan, Lancaster; grandchildren Toby Gettler, Eric Gettler, Deidre Ebersole, Amanda Ebersole, Brittany Knight, Victoria Knight, Andrew Sides, Katelyn Sides, Jasmine Jordan, Alixandra Jordan; great grandchildren William Sheetz, Austin Gettler, Madison Ebersole; brother Kenneth Craun; sister Nancy Kleinfelter.  She was preceded in death by husband George J. Gettler Sr.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Midway Brethren Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
