Carl McClure O''Dell, 81, unexpectedly completed his life''s journey January 30, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon.

He was born September 20, 1931 in New Germantown, PA to the late Harold E. O''Dell and Margaret (McClure) O''Dell. He was a 1949 graduate and president of his senior class at Fannett Metal High School in Dry Run, PA. He also graduated from Thompson Business Institute in 1979 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He served 12 years in the PA Army National Guard. His employment included warehouse manager, office worker, maintenance and head custodian at South West Elementary School in Lebanon. He also failfully served as sexton at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lebanon for 35 years, his last day working was Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was a member of Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church, Dela-Ches Fishing Club, Kittatinny Hunting and Fishing Club, Buck-Eye Gun Club and Friendship Fire Company.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Genevieve (Meyer-Herring) O''Dell and 4 sons Ronald Lynn (Roberta), Ricky Gene (Sandra), Robert Allen (Beverly) all of Lancaster, Daniel Nathan (Michelle) of Jonestown. Also surviving are 2 stepsons Gary and Robert Herring. A stepson, James Herring and step grandson Justin Herring preceded him in death. He has 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His sister treva Seriano of Spotswood, NJ also survives. Also mourning his passing is his faithful dog, Tiffany.

A private funeral service was held Monday, February 4, 2013 from Christman''s Funeral Home, Inc., Lebanon with Rev. Barry S. Kendall of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment was at East Waterford Cemetery, Juniata County, PA.Serving was pallbearers were sons Ronald, Ricky and Daniel O''Dell and grandson Christopher O''Dell.

Christman''s Funeral Home, Inc. was honored to serve the family with the arrangements.
