Clifford E. "Cliff" Ainsworth, Sr., 94, of Lebanon, died on Sunday, June 03, 2018 at Cedar Haven.
He was born on Thursday, July 05, 1923 to the late Herbert Ainsworth and Estella Ainsworth nee Walborn in Harrisburg. He was a member of Avon Zion United Methodist Church where served as Lay Leader, sunday School Superintendent and teacher, trustee and member of the choir. He served in the US Navy on Lst117 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre from 1943-1946. He attended Hershey Industrial School for 12 years and also played football, baseball and basketball while in high school. He also went to Property and Accounting School. Cliff worked in textile printing after the military and managed the Avon Fire Company Store for 23 years and United Associated Grocers for 13 years. He drove fire engine for the Avon Volunteer Fire Company and was Assistant Chief for 25 years. Cliff belonged to Annville Senior Center, bowled on church league and served free meals at Lebanon County Christian Ministries for 25 years. He was also a volunteer and held offices for Avon Playground and was in charge of the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Truck.
Surviving are son Cliff Ainsworth, Jr., spouse of Debbie, Hershey; daughters Doris spouse of Earl McAllister, Lebanon, Teresa M. Kleinfelter, Wernersville; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Ruth H. Ainsworth nee Althouse.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 at Avon Zion United Methodist Church, 1205 E. Old Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Services will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:30 at the church.
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors, following the service.
