Dorothy Swanger

Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Swanger, age 89, will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania with Christmans Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Swanger died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born in Lebanon, PA on September 24, 1924. She graduated from South Lebanon High School in 1942, attended business college in Lebanon then was employed in the Warehouse Shipping Dept. at Bethlehem Steel Co. until her husband graduated from Penn State as an Aircraft Engineer in 1950. She married Mr. John W. Swanger on June 8, 1946. They moved to be near aircraft plants in Buffalo, NY, Hagerstown, MD, Wichita, KS, New Orleans, LA and Greenville, TN. She was a member of the Bemis United Methodist Church in Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne J. and Irene Grumbine Snavely, her brother, George Snavely and her husband of 53 years, John W. Swanger. She is survived by a son, John Swanger, Jr. of Park City, Utah; a daughter, Nancy J. Crook of Jackson, TN; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
