Elwood E. Houser, 74, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Ephrata Community Hospital. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was born on Saturday, October 08, 1938 to the late Miles H. Houser and Mabel C. Houser nee Gibble in Quentin. Elwood was involved with FFA, PA Pork Producers, Farm Show Committee, 4-H Leader, a charter member of CCYF, PA Young Farmers Assoc., County Pork Producers, All American Farmer, Keystone Farmer, Lebanon Fair Expo Board, PA Holstein Assoc, Lebanon Holstein Assoc., American Holstein Assoc. and received the Pork All American Award, He was an active member of Midway Church of the Brethren where he was church secretary for 40 years and a Willing Worker Sunday School Class. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are wife Ernestine E. Houser nee Small; daughter Elaine E. spouse of Craig A. Gibble; son Edwin E. spouse of Debra Houser; grandchild Amber Houser; step grandchildren Christopher A. Gibble, Steven C. Gibble; brother Richard M. Houser; sisters Carolyn Fackler, Peggy Schott.
Viewing will be on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6-8PM at Midway Church of the Brethren, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 02, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the church with viewing starting at 10:00AM.
Burial will be at Midway Brethren Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midway Church Building Fund, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon, PA 17042.
