Esther Hess Miller, 102, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Spang Crest. She was born on Thursday, May 6, 1920 to the late Warren C. Hess and Grace Hess nee Enck in Avon. Esther graduated from Lebanon High School in 1937 and later graduated from Mansfield State University in 1942. She taught Home Economics in the Lebanon School District from 1942 - 1949 and taught Nutrition in Practical Nursing at the Lebanon County Vo-Tech from 1965 - 1984. She also had a French Reweaving home business from 1954. Esther was a lifelong member of Grace United Church of Christ where she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Guild. She was a member of Lebanon County Family and Consumer Sciences Association, Lebanon County Chapter of PA School Retirees, Association of American University Women and Fabricon Weavers Guild. She also volunteered at Cedar Haven where she worked in the sewing room and assisted with shopping sprees for guests. She loved to cook and bake and always had a vegetable garden with plenty to share with family and friends. Surviving are children Ronald H. Miller and spouse Michelle (Martin), Marcia Grace Dohner and spouse James, Lisa Ann Miller; grandchildren, James H. Heisey and spouse Jennifer N. Rusnak, Daniel W. Heisey, Shane A. Miller, Blake A. Miller, Megan R. Miller, Eric J. Dohner; many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Henry D. Miller; siblings B. Anton Hess, Naomi Hess Langford, Robert Hess, Nevin Hess, James Hess and Elizabeth Hess Uberseder. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, November 4, 2022, 2:00 PM at Quentin United Church of Christ, 11 E. Main Street, Quentin. A time of visitation will follow the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
