Fern M. Sanders, also known affectionately as Fernie, passed away on July 31, 2023, at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. Born on October 24, 1930, in North Annville Twp., Fern was a beloved seamstress and touched the lives of many with her skillful craftsmanship and warm personality.
Fern had a passion for sewing that spanned several decades. Her dedication to her craft was evident in every stitch she meticulously sewed. As a seamstress, she brought joy to countless individuals who adored her beautifully crafted quilts. Fern's talent and attention to detail were unmatched, making her designs truly one-of-a-kind.
Beyond her sewing talents, Fern had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She delighted in spending time outdoors tending to her garden, where she nurtured vibrant flowers and lush plants. Fern's green thumb was evident in the breathtaking beauty that surrounded her home.
Quilting was another favorite pastime of Fern's, allowing her to express her creativity and create beautiful works of art. The quilts she lovingly made served as cherished heirlooms for family and friends, each one a testament to her skill and dedication.
In addition to sewing and quilting, baking held a special place in Fern's heart. Her kitchen was always filled with the delightful aroma of freshly baked treats. Family gatherings were made even more memorable by the delicious cakes, pies, and cookies that Fern lovingly prepared for all to enjoy.
Fern also found solace in reading, finding great pleasure within the pages of countless books. She had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and would often lose herself in the stories and wisdom found within those pages.
Fern M. Sanders will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Fern leaves behind a loving family, including her children Leslie Sanders and spouse Beth, Rodney Sanders and spouse Gay, and Cheryl Brightbill and spouse Greg. Her legacy also lives on through her six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Flocken, sister Elsie Seiders, brother Richard Yordy, and sister Carol Humphreys.
Fern's husband, Robert A. Sanders, parents, Daniel R. Yordy and Elsie Yordy nee Shelly, as well as her brother Raymond Yordy, sister Dorothy Rambler, sister Jean Yordy, brother Robert Yordy, and brother Kenneth Yordy preceded her in death.
To honor Fern's life, a series of services will be held. The viewing will take place on August 8, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lebanon. This will be followed by a Funeral Service starting at 11:30 AM at the same location. Finally, a Graveside Service will be conducted at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville on August 8th from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
Fern M. Sanders will forever be remembered for her immense talent as a seamstress and her vibrant spirit. Her legacy of love and creativity lives on through the memories shared by all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
