Gerald "Moose" "Skeeter" Esser

Gerald J. Esser, 89, of Lebanon passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Wednesday, October 25, 1933 to the late Stewart Esser, Sr., and Florence T. Esser nee Foreman in Reading, Pennsylvania. Gerald served our country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and re-enlisted in the Army to continue his military service. He was a construction machine operator in the military until his retirement after 30 years in April of 1971. Gerald liked to drive buses, fishing, bowling, and in his younger years enjoyed a nice cigar. He is survived by his beloved wife Marvine A. Esser nee Gilmer; 8 Children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sisters Judy Conrad, Karen Wheeler and Pearl Sauders. He is predeceased by children Jerry Esser, Jr. (Jocko), and Karen Esser; Brothers Eddie Esser, Stewart Esser and Leonard Esser. Visitation will be held at Christman's Funeral Home, 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon on Friday, July 14, 2023 starting at 12:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. A Graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road Myerstown PA 17067.
