Gregory L. Straub, born February 28, 1947 at Polyclinic Hospital Harrisburg, died on Sunday June 16, 2019 at Lebanon Valley Home, Annville.
He was the son of the late Richard K. and Dorothy E. (nee Miller) Straub. He graduated from Derry Twp. Public School System (Hershey), Harrisburg Area Community College and Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Humanities Degree in Philosophy. He served in the US Army from 30 December 1966 to 2 August 1970, discharged with the rank of Specialist 5th Class with Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of Clerk-Typist. He served 2 tours with the Finance Office of the 23rd Infantry Division ("Americal") at Chu Lai, Republic of Vietnam from 15 July 1968 to 1 August 1970. Greg was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 4 stars, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of Penn State Alumni Association, Salem Lutheran Church, Lebanon and American Division Veterans Association. Greg enjoyed reading history, visiting historical sites and tracing genealogy (hopes to meet as many of his ancestors as possible).
He is survived by his wife Jane R. (Conrad) Straub; brother Dennis R. and his wife Carol A. Straub; nephew Michael A. and his wife Jackie; their children Mitchell, Margaret and Elizabeth. Also surviving are Jane's nephews Conrad D. and Nathan (Greg's "bud") and their families.
Donations may be given to Pennsylvania State University to be used in the Library system and to the American Legacy Foundation (for scholarships).
Viewing will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 119 N. 8th Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the church.
Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, with full military honors, following the service.
