Helen S. Buchter, 95, of Claysburg, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Nason Hospital.
She was born on Thursday, April 22, 1920 to the late Frank Calvin Strack and Esther Ruth Strack nee Brandt in Mt. Zion Bethel Twp. She was a member of Zion "Goshert's" United Church of Christ and Associate Member of Claysburg Church of the Brethren. She was a factory worker and also worked at Risser's Restaurant. Helen was a charter member of Farm Women Group #12. She was a longtime choir member and was a former pianist for the Sunday School Department. She was also an avid gardner, enjoyed sewing, fishing and playing cards. Helen lived in Lebanon County her entire life until she moved at the age of 89 to live with her daughter Linda and son-in-law Ron in the Claysburg Church of the Brethren parsonage. Helen was a participant in the Claysburg Senior Center activities.
Surviving are daughters Linda B. spouse of Ron Bashore, Claysburg, Pauline J. spouse of Patrick Gibson, Clearville; grandchildren Jennifer Gingrich, Lebanon, Lisa Keranen, Denver, CO, Patricia Gibson, Dolores, CO, Laura Belicka Snyder, Ft. Myers, FL; 4 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Paul C. Buchter; brothers Franklin C. Strack and Allan Strack; sister Martha A. Wenrich.
Viewing will be on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Zion "Goshert's" United Church of Christ, 1588 Mt. Zion Road, Lebanon, with viewing starting at 10:00AM.
Burial will be at Zion "Goshert's" UCC Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
