Joan Rittle

Joan M. Rittle, 75, beloved mother and grandmother of Lebanon, died on Friday, February 04, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born on Tuesday, April 30, 1935 to the late Samuel Meyer and Lizzie Meyer nee Bachman in Buffalo Springs, PA. She was a member of Myerstown United Church of Christ. She graduated from South Lebanon HS in 1953. Joan owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband and son in South Lebanon Twp., which was presented a Century Farm Award in 2001. She was a 4-H leader for over 40 years, member of Farm Women Group 1 for over 50 years, treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary Citizens Fire Company in Avon for many years and sunday school teacher for preschoolers at church.

Surviving are daughters Karen L. spouse of Stephen S. Wagner, Ruth Ann spouse of Elijah Joseph Arnold III; son David E. Sr., spouse of Kimberly Rittle; grandchildren Nathan spouse of Jaci Arnold, Jennifer spouse of Dave Blystone, David E. Rittle, Jr., Daniel spouse of Chelsea Rittle, Sarah Wagner; great grandchild Ethan Arnold; brother Leon Meyer; sisters Dorothy Dengler, Mildred Bashore. She was preceded in death by husband Earl E. Rittle (6/4/1989).

Viewing will be on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Myerstown United Church of Christ, 306 West Main Avenue, Myerstown.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the church.

Burial will be at Kimmerling''s Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Myerstown UCC Endowment Fund, 306 West Main Avenue, Myerstown, PA 17067.
