Marlion McQuinn, 74, MSG U.S. Army-Retired, of South Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, passed away on January 19th 2015, at the Hospice Center of Mount Joy from complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Originally from Helechawa, Wolfe County, Kentucky, he was one of eight children born to Milburn and Sallie Jane (Dunn) McQuinn.  He was a graduate of the Hazel Green Academy, Hazel Green, Kentucky and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Army?s 1st Aviation Brigade Golden Hawks from 1970 to 1971. He was awarded two bronze stars for meritorious service and the air medal for in-air support of ground forces during his tour in-country.  In addition to his service in Vietnam, he served tours of duty in Korea from 1966-1967, and in Germany from 1962-1964 and also in 1978.  He was a graduate with Class 13 of the U.S. Army?s Sergeant?s Major Academy in 1979.  Retiring in 1981, he served 22 years on active duty.
After his discharge, Marlion worked for Creative Designs Custom Cabinetry of Lebanon.  He fabricated and installed kitchen cabinets and appliances over much of Lebanon County.  He was a gifted finish carpenter and liked working with his hands until his health did not permit him to do so.
Although Marlion was recognized for various military accomplishments, he took most pleasure in his family and the success of his four children.   He was especially proud of his children?s love of one another and the effort they made to prioritize family despite the miles between them.  He was an avid fisherman who believed a bad day of fishing was better than a good day at work.  He especially loved fishing with his sons and grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary Ann (Snavely) McQuinn, four children: Deborah Louise Heisey (wife of Randy Heisey) of Lancaster, PA; Marlion Todd McQuinn (wife  Robin Noone) of Potomac Falls, VA;  Gregory Scott McQuinn (wife Mary Zajac) of Middletown, PA; and Sally Ann McQuinn-Barry (wife of Donald Barry) of Palmyra, PA; and nine grandchildren.  In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Finley McQuinn, Donnie McQuinn, and his sister, Patricia Settle, of Kentucky; Graylon McQuinn of North Carolina; and a sister, Mary Ann McQuinn, of Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews.    He was predeceased by a brother, Donald McQuinn, of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; a sister, Kathy Lynn McQuinn, at a very young age; and his parents, Milburn and Sallie McQuinn, formerly of Hazel Green, Kentucky.
