Meda Spangler White. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Gerna Weidner and wife of the late Caleb H. White, Jr. Meda was born October 2, 1924, in Clay Township, Lancaster County, PA. Meda was a graduate of South Lebanon High School, and worked at the Bon Ton on Cumberland St. in Lebanon in her early years. She was an active member of the Lebanon Co. Flower Club, as she loved gardening and raising flowers. She also was a member of Historic Schaefferstown and served as a Girl Scout leader for the Schaefferstown troop. As a youth and most of her adult life, Meda was an active member of Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Lebanon, where she served as a choir member, served as a Sunday School teacher, served in women's circles, and had the honor of being elected Mother of the Year. More recently she was a member at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg, PA. There she and her husband instituted the “Wheelbarrow for Missions” concept and promoted active involvement in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child. Meda was a great homemaker, baker, and cook and was great at teaching others these skills. She is survived by daughters, Brenda W. Bomberger, Myerstown; Joanna M. Goodison and husband John, Schaefferstown; Laurite M. Vranesic and husband Paul, Cornwall; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five siblings, a son, Dennis H. White, and a son-in-law, A. James Bomberger. A public viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m. with church services to follow in the church social hall from 2-3 p.m. at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 27 Long's Church Lane, Womelsdorf, PA, on Friday, Nov. 26. Donations may be made in her memory to Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 27 Long's Church Lane, Womelsdorf, PA 19567.
