We share with you the loss of the physical life and the celebration of the everlasting life of our father, husband, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather and friend, Oscar Donald Sholly who died on December 6, 2009 as a resident of Lebanon Valley, Home, Annville, PA.
Born December 12, 1929, Oscar would have celebrated his 80th birthday this week. He is the husband of Marilyn (Ditzler) Sholly of Kindred Place, Annville, PA with whom he shared the past 58 years. He is survived by 4 children: son, Jeffrey L. Sholly of, Lititz, husband of Alisa Mellinger Sholly; Colleen (Sholly) Rosborough, wife of Gary Rosborough, Lebanon, PA; Cynthia (Sholly) Bucher, wife of Stan Bucher, Lebanon, PA and Lisa (Sholly) Neuhauser, wife of Greg Neuhauser, Hershey, PA.
Parents Oscar Henry Sholly and Mae Lola Eckert preceded him in death along with brother Clair Sholly and sisters; Esther Sholly, Alberta DeHart, Joyce Sholly and Dorothy Sholly. Brother Kenneth Sholly of Lebanon, PA and 3 nephews and 4 nieces survive.
He was a member of Mt. Wilson Church of the Brethren, which he assisted in building in 1957. Over the years, he served as Sunday school teacher and Superintendent Bible School Director and was a member of the church board.
He hunted small game with beagles. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948, graduated from Bliss Electrical School in 1949 and was employed by Metropolitan Edison Company for 47 years, where for a time he was the president of the Union, and upon retirement enjoyed visits with his children; 11 grandchildren; Matthew Bucher, Rachel Bucher, Jessie Sangrey, Jennie Sangrey, Benjamin Sholly, Peter Sholly, Alisa "Hope" Sholly, Marie Sholly, Lydia Neuhauser, Megan (Neuhauser) Subbio, Dana Neuhauser and 2 great grandchildren Aubrey Subbio and Jocelyn Sangrey.
Viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 11, 2009, from 9:30-10AM at Mt. Wilson Church of the Brethren at 1261 Mt. Wilson Road, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 11, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Wilson Church of the Brethren at 1261 Mt. Wilson Road, Lebanon.
Burial will be at Ebenezer "Covenant" Cemetery.
