Pauline J. "Polly" Kreider, 98, of 1 Boyd Street, Cornwall, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Cornwall Manor.
Pauline was born on October 13, 1915 to Jacob & Minnie Wealand, the youngest of four girls. She was married to H. Guy Kreider who passed away in March 2009. Polly reached the age of 98 and although she lived a long time she was very good until December of 2013 when she started to decline. She has been a resident of Cornwall Manor along with her husband since 2000. Polly was a 1937 graduate of Arcadia (formerly Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA). She was active with many local organizations, including the Women's Club of Lebanon where she served as a past president, Harmonica, Music Educators Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs. In the early '70s Polly was a middle school English teacher at ELCO. Her Christian faith was very important to her. Polly was as gentle as a lamb and a joy to
know. We will miss her but we will always think of her wisdom and her smile when times become challenging. As a tribute to that "Greatest Generation," Polly recorded her memories as part of NPR's Story Corps. Her story of being stateside, alone and expecting a baby during WWII, while her husband was a medic in the South Pacific, will reside in the Library of Congress.
She leaves behind 4 sons; David, husband of JoAnne Santucci of Westminster, MD, Bruce, husband of Katherine Bishop, Lebanon, Brian of Hershey, James, husband of Molly Dougherty of Camp Hill; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
