Ralph L. Rhen, 87, of Lebanon, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, September 03, 2013 at VA Medical Center.
He was born on Thursday, October 08, 1925 to the late Mark Rhen and Bertha Rhen nee Fake in Lebanon. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ralph graduated from Lebanon High School in 1943 and served 3 years in the Marine Corps in World War II and was in the Pacific and Occupation of China. He had worked for 17 years in the Morgantown mine and then transferred to the Steelton Plant. He was a member of the VFW Post #23, the American Legion, Navy Club of Lebanon Ship #91, and the 5th Ward Athletic Club. Ralph enjoyed playing golf with the seniors and cards with family and friends. He also was a semi pro football player for the Lebanon Rams.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sundina F. Rhen nee Spurigo, Lebanon; son Dennis M. Rhen, Lebanon; daughter Lisa spouse of Bradley J. Peters, Lebanon; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother Lee Rhen; sisters Myrle Bender, Joanne Muth. He was preceded in death by son Ralph H. Rhen; daughter Stacy Lee Rhen; brothers Harlan Rhen, Walter Rhen; sisters Ethel Long, Esther M. Rhen.
Graveside services will be on Friday, September 06, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, 235 Maple Street, Lebanon with full military honors.
