Sara Frantz

Sara Ann (Hess) Frantz, 98, died April 20, 2010 at Spang Crest Manor. Born August 2, 1911, the daughter of John W. and Amy S. Hess of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Frantz, Jr. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Harris and Joyce Foltz. She is survived by one son, James T. Frantz III of Lebanon. During her teenage years she taught Sunday School at Salem Lutheran Church. She was a member of Salem, where she and her late husband assisted the Financial Secretary with counting the weekly church collection for 13 years until May of 1996. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1929 and worked as a stenographer at Hershey Chocolate Corporation before her marriage on January 18, 1936. During her husband''s long military career, she was an active member of the USAF Officers Wives'' Club, including such locales as the Canal Zone, Panama; and Tokyo, Japan. In 1997 she was named an associate in the Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation Founders Club. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, oil painting and cooking. Viewing will be from 10:00AM to 10:30AM Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Christman''s Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 10:30AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be given to the Lebanon Rescue Mission PO Box 5, Lebanon, PA 17042.
