It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Sylvester "Tibet" R. Wilhelm who passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Lebanon, PA at the age of 97.
Sylvester was born in 1919 and sent his life in Lebanon. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School Class of 1937. Sylvester was a Corporal in the US Army and served under General Patton during World War II from 1943-1945. He was honorably discharged after earning a Purple Heart. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1982.Sylvester was a member of the Rescue Hose Co., Liberty Fire Co., and VFW #23. He also belonged to Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and Shrine. He spent his free time doing carpentry, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to thank Linden Village and Homeland Hospice for their service.
Surviving are children John C. spouse of Deb Wilhelm, Lebanon, Beth W. spouse of Wesley Emmons, Wilmington, DE; grandchildren John Wilhelm Jr., Brittany spouse of Nicholas Young, Gwen Emmons, Natalie spouse of Brian Ferry; great grandchildren Elliott Young and Benjamin Ferry. He was preceded in death by wife Betty J. Wilhelm nee Wagner; brother Clifford R. Wilhelm; sister Sylvia E. Wilhelm.
Viewing will be on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors, following the service.
