Warren L. Boyer, 100, of Lebanon, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Spang Crest Manor.
He was the husband of the late Irene Yiengst Boyer who died on November 26, 1999. Born February 8, 1915 in Mt. Zion, he was the son of the late Peter G. and Lizzie E. Boyer. He graduated from the former Fredericksburg High School in 1931 and completed the secretarial course in the former Lebanon Business College in 1933. He was employed as a weaver and sparehand for 8 years in various silk mills in Lebanon county.In December 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he was employed as a Junior Property and Supply Clerk at the former Olmsted Air Base, Middletown, PA. After 3 promotions to Senior Property and Supply Clerk, he resigned in June 1943 and volunteered for induction into the army Air Corps. He served more than 30 months in England, France and Germany and was honorably discharged in March 1946 with the rank of Technical Sergeant.After military service he returned to Olmsted Air Base as a senior property and supply clerk. When Olmsted closed in 1966, he moved with his job in Detachment 29 of the Directorate of Aerospace Fuels as an Inventory Management Specialist to Cameron Station, Alexandria, VA. He retired as a Supply Requirements Officer/Inventory Management Specialist along with his wife, Irene, a General Accounting Clerk, from federal civil service, Department of the Air Force, Alexandria, VA in the early 1970s. Following retirement he and his wife performed volunteer work on an average of one day a week for 14 years at their church. They were members of Zoar Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Zion, Good Samaritan Health Services, Foundation Founders Club, Good Samaritan Hospital, Second Century Endowment Club, Luthercare Evergreen Club and Friends of Spang Crest Manor. He was also a member of Friends of Sister Lydia Society of Luthercare,
Lititz, PA and Honorary National Life Member of the Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by sisters Mary M. Woomer, Emma K. Donmoyer and brothers Harry G. Boyer and Peter G. Boyer.
Viewing will be on Friday, May 01, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc, 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 01, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Zion "Goshert's" UCC Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
