Yale Galbraith

Yale R. Galbraith, 90, of Lebanon, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home.
He was born September 5, 1923 to Charles J. Galbraith and Mary L. (Frank) Galbraith. He was married to Olive M. (Eisenhauer) Galbraith for 69 years. Yale has 3 sons Barry in Afton, VA, Gene in Mechanicsburg and Scott in Mt. Gretna. There are 4 grandchildren; Jody in Honeybrook, Greg in Boston, MA, Joshua in Newville and Christopher in Mechanicsburg. There are 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Jeanette and brothers Charles, Earl and Kenneth.
Yale was involved with youth baseball for 52 years as coaching, umpiring and holding offices in a variety of leagues. He was on the original committee to start Biddy Basketball in Lebanon, as well as, serving as a coach and referee. Yale was also very active in community service. He was president of the Optimist Club of Lebanon three times, served on the original committee that started the Lebanon High School Hall of Fame, volunteered for the Lebanon County Workshop, Salvation Army and Lebanon Community Library. He was inducted into the Lebanon Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 for his community service. Yale was also a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon, where he served on church council for two terms, president and secretary of the Men of Salem, usher for many years and did many other volunteer work for the church. Yale was a graduate of Lebanon High School, Class of 1941.
No viewing. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Christman''s Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Memorial services will be on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, following the service.
