Sitting along Cumberland Street just outside downtown Lebanon—you might've seen us driving by— Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. is where many families have come to create their perfect farewell.

We're a funeral home in the truest sense of the word—emphasis on the word home. We're truly a home, with walls originally built to house a family in 1844. While we've certainly made a few renovations since then—it's an old home—we've captured the same warmth of the original framework.

The 5,000-square-foot space you'll see has received a new roof and new flooring in every section, as well as many other interior and exterior additions all made within the last decade. And in honor of its storied history, the home maintains its original molding, and we did our best to match the exterior paint to its original color.

It goes without saying that this funeral home is chock-full of character.

Inside is a viewing room, where the casket or urn is placed. This section opens up to a sitting area, or chapel, that seats approximately 65-plus people. Our ample offstreet parking accommodates 35 or so cars.

We want our space to feel as warm and inviting as possible. We've placed candles and wallflowers throughout to make sure it smells nice, rather than the sterile sort of scent you might've experienced or imagined elsewhere. We even have a fish tank filled with several fish, who (believe it or not) each have their own unique personalities—the kids love it. And like people do with their own home, we're constantly tweaking things to keep it updated, while still maintaining the home's innate charming curbside appeal.

We really love that this brick and mortar is still an authentic funeral home, and we've put in a lot of work to make sure it stays that way.
